Baby Food Jar Lanterns

How cute are these?  I wanted to make gifts for my little ones' teachers, and this is something you can do with stuff that most mom's have on hand.  All you need is:

a few empty baby food jars

white spray paint (flat makes a frosty look)

a piece of lace - try to find one with larger holes

a white wire hanger - bronze would work too         a threading needle

needle nose pliers

something to cut the wire hanger with

First empty the baby food jars, remove the label, and scrub off any sticky stuff left over.  This was seriously the hardest part.  Make sure the jars are all dry before you start.  Wrap the lace around the jar and pin it.  Make sure it's nice and tight to it doesn't move when you spray it.

Place the jar upside down and spray all over from about 8 inches away.  Any closer and you'll get drips.  I sprayed two coats.

While the jars are drying, cute the hanger into 10" pieces using a shear.  My husband actually scored mine with my orange handle scissors and bent them until they broke using his man muscles!  It was hot...

Anyways, use the needle nose pliers to bend the ends up.

Then just squeeze the wire and put the ends into the jar.  The tension will hold it in.  Not drilling or gluing!

And you have a cute little lantern using stuff you already had!  They're perfect for tea light candles.  Also, if you mess is up, like I did the first one, just take off the lace, and spray paint the entire jar.  The light will glow through the frosted glass just as pretty!
