Chalkboard Lunchbox Note

Mommy lunchbox notes have been around since children began bringing lunch to school.  Some mommies write notes on the napkin, some write them on a piece of paper, and some mommies write them on the Ziploc baggies holding goldfishes.  But they are all from the heart.

Why not write your mommy lunchbox note right on the lunchbox with chalkboard paint?  I took my daughter's lunchbox. and used chalkboard spray paint on the inside of the lid to create a permanent mommy note that I could use and reuse!

Here's how I did it:

First, clean and thoroughly dry the lid of your lunchbox.  Next, tape off the area that you want to apply your chalkboard paint and be sure to protect the rest of the lunchbox and surrounding surfaces with a plastic or paper cover.  Mine is a soft lunchbox, so I tried to get it as flat and smooth as possible.

Shake the can well, and spray from 8-10 inches away in a sweeping pattern to ensure good coverage.  I did two coats, waiting 5 minutes between eto make sure I didn't get any drips since the plastic is very smooth.  Don't worry if your lines are perfect, since we'll be adding a border.

After the paint is dry (I waited about 30 minutes), you can add your border.  I chose to use some burlap fabric, but you could use just about anything that you can glue on.

And you have a permanent mommy note on your lunchbox!
