Take care of your Furbabies!

Wow, what a day!  We woke up to a text from my mom saying that she took my sweet deaf rescue boxer to the vet because he was acting funny, not eating, and drinking up a storm.  When he didn't want to go out and wouldn't eat a cookie, she knew something was up.  Luckily, her mommy intuition kicked in and she knew something serious was going on.

Rocky ended up needed emergency spleen removal because a tumor on his spleen had ruptured and he was bleeding internally.  Without surgery, he probably would have bled to death.  He went under at about 5pm, and we got word at 7pm that he was a stellar patient and the cancer hadn't yet spread.  We know we have at least 6 more months with Rockadoodle!

Please, take your furbabies in to the vet if they just aren't acting right.  I'm so glad my mom made the right choice.  We also had lots of people loving him and praying for him, and some excellent doctors caring for him.

  1. Ugh - thankfully he's okay!
Last week my sweet baby wasn't acting right either - ears down, no appetite, lethargic - so I took her to the vet and she was in Adrenal crisis! She could have died if we let it go and decided to "wait and see".
Now we have to take her in every 25 days for the rest of her life for an injection to keep her going but honestly, it's a small price to pay.
I just wish all animals were as lucky to be loved like ours! ;)
